Today the Leopards have been introduced to their new book ‘The Tear Thief’. The children entered the classroom to find a jar filled with multicoloured tear drops labelled ‘Tear Collection’ We discussed reasons as to why we might cry, whether we cry when we are sad or happy. We examined the different colours and discussed that each colour could represent a different emotion. The children then worked in groups to decide which coloured ‘tear’ best represents an emotion. They then created noun phrases to label each group. For example: tears of rage, tears of pure joy. Once we had completed this task, we worked independently and recorded our own sentences explaining why they decided a certain colour best represented a certain emotion. For example: tears of rage are red because they are boiling hot.
