Harvest festival

Image
Our harvest festival took place in Church on Wednesday this week and was well- attended by parents, carers and friends. We were also thrilled that  The Reverend  Adele  Barker, who is the new Priest in Charge at Taddington was able to join us..  Giraffes led the service and they all read beautifully.  Our theme was  how those of us with plenty should help those in need. In the Bible story, Boaz had a plentiful harvest so he was able to give some to those in need. Doing the same today, our infants made up harvest food boxes and delivered them to people in the village.  Leopards Harvest poem was read very confidently and clearly and infants and juniors all contributed to the prayers.

Harvest baking

Giraffes and Leopards joined together to bake for the Harvest cafe. With clean hands, they had to help with measuring, weighing, chopping, grating, mixing, scooping, washing-up and tidying!  For some of them, some of these were new experiences, so we have helped to broaden their horizons! I hope they will be inspired to do more cooking. We also linked with the science topics of states of matter /changing state as we observed the butter changing from a solid to a liquid when it melted. The runny (liquidy) mixture was a solid again when it came out of the oven. Today, they are selling the baked goods in our cafe. The children are loving the experience of being waiters/waitresses and serving the customers.
