Rations

Image
I've really enjoyed hearing about the juniors new topic 'Britain at war', especially as they are so enthusiastic about it. Today, during Forest schools we learnt about what rations are and why they were used in the war.  The children followed two recipes to prepare food for a wartime ration soup and bread to accompany it. We then took what we had prepared up to the woods, split wood, lit a fire..... .....and cooked the soup and bread on a campfire.  The children had varying degrees of enthusiasm towards the soup but enjoyed the bread.

This week we have started our new topic, Britain at War. It has been great to see how enthusiastic all the children have been already and huge thank you to those children who have brought items in!

Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver

An exciting first day back for leopards! We started our new book Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver. In this book we will be exploring Gullivers extraordinary voyages!  Today we started by comparing Gullivers map to a map that we would use today! The children noticed many places were missing and recognised other places that we hadn’t heard of!

To finish our topic, Frozen Kingdom the juniors did an excellent job sharing what they have learnt to the school and parents!  They should be super proud of themselves especially their environmental art pieces which they have worked really hard designing and creating over the last few weeks!
