Cake and Calculations

Image
A huge thank you to Mrs Williams, Mrs Beswick and our Teaching & Learning Ambassadors for organising and running such a fantastic event this morning!  Although we have not yet touched on Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division units, it was a great opportunity for the children to explore with their resources and for the parents to come along and see how we do things!

Heartsmart - Guard Your Heart ❤️

Image
Today in Heartsmart, we looked at guarding our hearts. Our hearts produce kindness, good decisions, good thoughts, power, confidence and peace. We need to look after them! I’m order to understand this concept, we played a game. The children each had a heart taped to their back. The aim was to guard their own heart whilst trying to collect the other  children’s hearts. The children who collected the most often lost their heart and the children who had their heart hadn’t collect many, if any at all.  I then reminded the children the aim of the game was to ‘guard your heart’ ❤️

Mini Project - Prehistoric Pots

Image
As part of our Topic ‘Through the Ages’ we have been working on a mini project ‘Prehistoric Pots’. This project taught the children all about Bell Beaker pottery. It allowed them to explore different clay techniques, which they then used to make and decorate their own Bell Beaker-style pot.  After all our research, the children took to their art books and designed their own pot. We then looked at the different techniques we could use with our clay such as rolling coils, using slip and making a pinch pot and finally we produced our own pottery. The final products are fantastic!
