Rations

I've really enjoyed hearing about the juniors new topic 'Britain at war', especially as they are so enthusiastic about it.

Today, during Forest schools we learnt about what rations are and why they were used in the war.

The children followed two recipes to prepare food for a wartime ration soup and bread to accompany it.

We then took what we had prepared up to the woods, split wood, lit a fire.....

.....and cooked the soup and bread on a campfire.

The children had varying degrees of enthusiasm towards the soup but enjoyed the bread.
