Harvest baking

Giraffes and Leopards joined together to bake for the Harvest cafe. With clean hands, they had to help with measuring, weighing, chopping, grating, mixing, scooping, washing-up and tidying!

For some of them, some of these were new experiences, so we have helped to broaden their horizons! I hope they will be inspired to do more cooking.

We also linked with the science topics of states of matter /changing state as we observed the butter changing from a solid to a liquid when it melted. The runny (liquidy) mixture was a solid again when it came out of the oven.

Today, they are selling the baked goods in our cafe. The children are loving the experience of being waiters/waitresses and serving the customers.
