PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈

Image
This week, we started our final book year ‘PRIDE: the story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag’. In this deeply moving and empowering book, we will trace the life of the Gay Pride Flag from the beginning in 1978. We have been exploring a story of love, hope, equality and pride.  On Wednesday, we discussed what PRIDE is and why people celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and their achievements. The children showed incredible amounts of respect and were enthusiastic to share their own opinions and views.  We looked at examples of PRIDE celebrations and created our own placards celebrating the LGBT+ community. 🏳️‍🌈

Life in a Roman fort 🏺

Image
On Tuesday, we were learning about Life in a Roman Fort. We explored the Vindolanda tablets and discussed the reliability of primary sources. Using the Vindolanda tablets, the children used the descriptions to recreate the Roman Fort that it was found in. The children also got to have a go at putting themselves in Roman shoes and writing their own Vindolanda Tablet.

Perfect poems! 📖

I am so proud of each and every one of the Leopards today.  After 2 weeks of exploring and learning about poems and focussing on the features that occur in cautionary tales, the children have planned and produced their very own!  They were so excited to share these with each other. So excited that we invited Mrs Chapman to join us and listen to what the children have produced! 🤩 You should all be very proud! ⭐️

Symmetry 🔺▪️🔸

This week the year fours have been learning about symmetry. After exploring with objects and each other using mirrors, we had a go at creating shapes using lolly pop sticks and challenging eachother to complete the shape.
