Final forest school for this term

Image
We have had such a brilliant half term of forest schools, I couldn’t be prouder of the way leopards have got stuck in with everything we’ve been doing. Over this half term we have learnt how to use a bow saw, bill hook and sheath knife in order to make a peg.  We sawed the wood with the bow saw... split it with a bill hook... and whittled the shape of the tent peg using the sheath knife.... In order to use these tools safely the children learnt the ‘tool talk’ for each tool then made sure they communicated with their peers, using eye contact and talking to them to ensure they were comfortable throughout the process. This project has taken a great deal of determination and motivation in order to succeed as well as an ability to work together as a team. This is something that the Leopards have excelled with. To finish today, we decided to make a fire to toast marshmallows and make hot chocolate. What a fabulous end to a great half term, well done leopards.

Here is our jazzy art on display at the Pop Up Art exhibition. I think you will agree that it looks wonderful.

Jazzy Thursday

Image
This month is Black History Month and we are producing some abstract art based on jazz music. We have  looked at the history of black people and jazz music linked to civil rights and drawn how it makes us feel. Today we are designing ready for our canvases. Look out for the finished product soon 😀

Fantastic forest school

We’ve had a very busy and exciting forest school session this afternoon. The Leopards have all shown great motivation and team work, I thoroughly enjoyed the session because of their great attitudes.  We collected wood to make a fire, sorting it into groups. Chopped wood using the bow saw, listened and communicating with each other to ensure safety Whittled sticks to use to toast the marshmallows  Lit the fire using a flint and steel and toasted marshmallows Well done Leopards, I can’t wait for next week.

Role play fun

We have been really enjoying our class text The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  Here we are role playing the conversation that might have taken place between Edmund and Aslan.
