Final forest school for this term

 We have had such a brilliant half term of forest schools, I couldn’t be prouder of the way leopards have got stuck in with everything we’ve been doing. Over this half term we have learnt how to use a bow saw, bill hook and sheath knife in order to make a peg.

 We sawed the wood with the bow saw...

split it with a bill hook...

and whittled the shape of the tent peg using the sheath knife....

In order to use these tools safely the children learnt the ‘tool talk’ for each tool then made sure they communicated with their peers, using eye contact and talking to them to ensure they were comfortable throughout the process. This project has taken a great deal of determination and motivation in order to succeed as well as an ability to work together as a team. This is something that the Leopards have excelled with.

To finish today, we decided to make a fire to toast marshmallows and make hot chocolate. What a fabulous end to a great half term, well done leopards.
