Remembrance Day ❤️

Image
To mark Remembrance day, we walked down to the cenotaph this morning, arriving just before 11am. The Leopards read out some poems whilst the Giraffes shared some prayers.  We then proceeded to hold our own 1 minute silence to pay our respects.

Tar Beach 📖

This week, the Leopards were intruded to their new book ‘Tar Beach’. We were exploring a range of adjectives to infer emotions of different characters.  The children’s task was to create a freeze frame of the scene that we had been exploring. As the children were frozen, Miss Lingard tapped each character on the shoulder one at a time bringing them to life and expressing how they were feeling.

Ancient Geography - the River Nile 🌊

Image
As part of our Ancient Civilisation topic, we have been exploring the Nile River and how it influenced the development of Ancient Egyptian civilisation.  The Nile River is the longest river in the world and was crucial for Ancient Egyptian civilisation. It provided water for drinking, farming and transportation. The fertile land along the river allowed crops to grow supporting the population and leading to great achievements and developments.  We created our own model of the Nile River using sand, water and soil. By completing this hands-on activity we were able to understand how the river floods each year, bringing fertile soil that allowed the Ancient Egyptians to cultivate crops.
