Children’s Collective worship

 RESPECT 

A group from Leopards led the collective worship today. They chose the theme of RESPECT and included a bible story, drama, a hymn, prayers and discussion.

Well done to Iyla, Harriet, Natalie, Carmel and Leah.

Circus Time

 On Monday, Leopards class delved into circus life in preparation for their new book, Leon and the Place Between. We transported our senses with the enticing smell and taste of popcorn and donuts and were enthralled by the incredible stunts we saw on screen. The children were overflowing with incredible vocabulary and we used that to help us come up with phrases to persuade people to come to our circus. We used these persuasive phrases whilst dresses as ringmasters and clowns then applied them in our poster writing. We also had chance to practice our own circus skills (although Mrs Beswick is considerably better than Mrs Chapman at juggling!)

A taste of Narnia - our Turkish delight experience 🍬

This week in class, we had a magical and mouthwatering experience that brought our reading of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life - quite literally!  As we journeyed through C.S. Lewis’s enchanted world of Narnia, we paused to try one of its most iconic (and tempting) treats: Turkish delight (covered in chocolate of course) For those who may not know, Turkish delight plays a rather infamous role in the story. When Edmund first meets the White Witch, she offers him a warm drink and a box of magically delicious Turkish delight - a gesture that begins his betrayal of his siblings. C.S. Lewis describes the treat in such an irresistible way that we were all curious: What exactly does Turkish delight taste like? So, we decided to find out for ourselves. Some students loved the floral taste and asked for seconds. Others were surprised by how different it was from the sweet they were used to. The lion, the witch and the wardrobe 🦁🧙‍♀️🧝‍♀️

To begin our final half term, the Leopards started their new book, ‘The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe’ 🦁🧝‍♀️ As the children entered the classroom this morning, they got to experience walking through our own version of a wardrobe emerging into the ‘other world’ where we used our imagination to picture the scene, snow falling onto the trees and covering the ground.  We then started to read our new book which some children were already familiar with! They were super excited!  We were introduced to the characters Lucy and Tumnus and created sentences about them using relative clauses to give more information about what we had learnt so far! The children were enthusiastic about getting into role and are looking forward to exploring the land of Narnia 🦁❄️🧝‍♀️
