Black History Month

As it is Black History Month, the year 5 and 6 worked together to plan and prepare 3 40 minute sessions with the rest of the school teaching them about Black History. This was to help the children explore issues around racism and learn how they can help to actively combat racism in todays world. We aim to raise awareness and celebrate the achievements, history and contribution of black people with our students.

They introduced us to many extraordinary people and explained their importance and the impact they had. We focussed on key figures, movements and events in black history. They did this through the use of three different activities: origami, sport and art.

The Leopards had a wonderful time and were really enthusiastic which was excellent to see.
