Snozzcumbers!
As we continue to explore our current English book ‘The BFG’ we have come across some weird and wonderful (and slightly repulsive) recipes. Roald Dahl was known for his very intriguing and disgusting meals, from birds pie to lickable wallpaper. In the BFG we have been introduced to Snozzcumbers, a delish recipe especially for giants. The children are going to be writing their own recipe book therefore we needed to learn the skills to do so. We used Roald Dahls ‘Revolting Recipes book’ to identify his use of imperative verbs such as cut, drain, mis and whizz.
We then explored the importance of imperative verbs by making the Snozzcumbers and sequencing the instructions to help us prepare for writing our own.
Safe to say the children were disgusted with Miss Lingard’s lesson and her choice to mix tuna, kidney beans and meal worms…
