Exploring Islamic Art 🎨

This afternoon, year 3 and 4 were introduced to Islamic Art. We discussed the significant qualities and intentions of Islamic Art. The children had time to explore geometric shapes, tessellating patterns and motifs more closely by using a range of 2-D geometric shapes to make symmetrical and repeating patterns.

After exploration, the children took to their sketchbooks to create their own patterns. We analysed each others work and discussed the use of symmetry and they ways we had made our shapes tessellate.
