The Rosetta Stone and Hieroglyphics ✍️

In History, we have been learning about the discovery of the Rosetta Stone and the importance of this particular artefact. 

By discovering the Rosetta Stone, historians were able to understand hieroglyphics which provided us with historical evidence as to what life was like during this period of time. 

After researching and understanding the significance of the Rosetta Stone, year 3 and 4 had the opportunity to have a go at writing their own messages using hieroglyphics and papyrus paper!

A taste of Narnia - our Turkish delight experience 🍬

This week in class, we had a magical and mouthwatering experience that brought our reading of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life - quite literally!  As we journeyed through C.S. Lewis’s enchanted world of Narnia, we paused to try one of its most iconic (and tempting) treats: Turkish delight (covered in chocolate of course) For those who may not know, Turkish delight plays a rather infamous role in the story. When Edmund first meets the White Witch, she offers him a warm drink and a box of magically delicious Turkish delight - a gesture that begins his betrayal of his siblings. C.S. Lewis describes the treat in such an irresistible way that we were all curious: What exactly does Turkish delight taste like? So, we decided to find out for ourselves.
