Lines of longitude and latitude 🎈🌍

This week in geography, our classroom took to the skies – almost literally – as the children explored lines of longitude and latitude using… balloons!
Using brightly coloured balloons as our mini globes, the children carefully drew the Equator, the Prime Meridian, and other key lines to help them understand how we locate places around the world. This hands-on activity helped bring a tricky topic to life in a fun and memorable way.
It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and curious.

Carsington Water 🦆

Wow, what a day at Carsington Water! We enjoyed a day filled with adventure, learning, and hands-on activities in the great outdoors. The day began with an exciting lesson from the ranger, where we learned all about where our water comes from. The children even got to try filtering water themselves—a fascinating and eye-opening activity!  We then explored the bird hut, where we spotted a variety of wildlife and deepened our understanding of nature. We visited the interactive water system exhibit, where the children had fun discovering how water is managed and conserved.  After that, we ventured into the woodlands, where creativity took over as the children used natural materials to create their own stunning pieces of animal art. With the weather on our side, the day wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the park, where the children had a fantastic time burning off some energy! Manchester Museum 🏛️

Wow! What an incredible day year 3 and 4 had on Tuesday!  Our educational trip to Manchester museum to view the Ancient Egyptian exhibition was such a wonderful and exciting opportunity to help bring our learning to life. We were able to deepen our understanding of our current topic Ancient Civilisation as well as explore other exhibits such as the Natural world.
