Hillforts

As part of our Topic ‘Through the Ages’ the leopards have been learning about Iron Age hillforts.

We observed the typical size, shape and features of a hillfort. Hillforts were built for defence and were usually built at the top of a hill. We learnt that the people were defended from attacks by other tribes by ditches, wooden fences and ramparts.

Once we had a good understanding, we went up into the woods and had a go at creating our own hillforts.
