Let’s Rock!


 This afternoon the Leopards started their new topic ‘Rocks, Relics and Rumbles’. 

We invited a special guest, Adam, from Tunstead Quarry to come into our class and run a workshop exploring different rocks. The children learnt all about different types of rocks and investigated their properties. We also got to find out more about Adam’s role at Tarmac and how they extract rocks and the uses for the materials. 

The children asked many thoughtful questions and were exited to see different types of rocks, equipment used in the quarry and watch some videos taken just this morning of what working in a quarry looks like.

This week in class, we had a magical and mouthwatering experience that brought our reading of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to life - quite literally!  As we journeyed through C.S. Lewis’s enchanted world of Narnia, we paused to try one of its most iconic (and tempting) treats: Turkish delight (covered in chocolate of course) For those who may not know, Turkish delight plays a rather infamous role in the story. Marvellous music making, mystery solving and more!

Hi Leopards, It was great to chat to some of you yesterday and find out what you have been up to. As usual, the lovely leopards have lots to tell me!  Marvellous music making  h as earned Estella the Blue Peter Music badge. Here she is, looking very happy with her achievement.
